THE ZANU PF Women’s League is celebrating various empowerment projects being spearheaded by the ruling party towards total emancipation of women across the country.

An electric environment engulfed the Harare International Conference Centre this Monday, as the ZANU PF Women’s League Presidential Empowerment Fund was launched by the President and First Secretary of the ruling party, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa, with each province receiving US$300 000.

The women drawn across the country’s 10 provinces celebrated the continued inclusion of women in various empowerment projects that include farming initiatives, livestock rearing, sewing and mining.

Similar empowerment funds have been launched for the War Veterans and Youth Leagues by President Mnangagwa.

The party’s National Chairperson, Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri and Secretary for Women’s Affairs in the Politburo, Cde Mabel Chinomona concur the placement of women at the centre of development is key in driving the national agenda.

“Since the struggle for independence, women have played key roles in moving the journey forward and to this day, women continue marching towards development and this fund will help drive the country forward,” Cde Muchinguri-Kashiri stated.

“Projects have accelerated women’s participation in the achievement of Vision 2030, such as the capacitation of the women’s bank, so that women have access to funding that empowers them. The league believes women play a key role in transforming lives and communities and as such need to be supported in its various ventures,” Cde Chinomona added.

Presidential Investment Advisor Dr Paul Tungwarara maintains that empowerment should unite people from across the country.

“Everyone should be empowered under the inclusive development trajectory of the party, and this is the message by the President that we should keep pushing everywhere and every day.”

Meanwhile, Cde Muchinguri-Kashiri took the opportunity to reiterate the government’s position on the drug and substance abuse menace.

“I have taken this opportunity again to speak about drug and substance abuse and the position that the President has stated and how we should continue fighting this menace that has ravaged our communities.”

ZANU PF is prioritising empowerment in its inclusive development trajectory, with President Mnangagwa on record that it is a vital cog towards the attainment of an upper-middle income society by 2030.
