ZANU PF targets infrastructure-economy alignment at National People’s Conference

THE ruling ZANU-PF party says narrowing the gap between infrastructure development and economic growth will take centre stage at the forthcoming ZANU PF Annual National People’s Conference, set for Mutare from October 13 to October 18.

In a media briefing at the party headquarters in Harare this Monday, ZANU PF Spokesperson, Ambassador Christopher Mutsvangwa said last week’s Politburo and Central Committee meetings outlined the framework for the upcoming conference, which focuses on the economy.

“The agenda follows the President’s call to bridge the gap between infrastructure and the economy. At Forbes Border Post, we are now seeing traffic volumes surpassing Beitbridge, placing Manicaland at the centre of economic activity.”

Ambassador Mutsvangwa also noted that the country’s economic policy direction is attracting renewed engagement.

“In the past week, we saw former critics reconsidering ZIDERA. Zimbabwe remains open to all and willing to work with any country. They are revisiting ZIDERA because they have seen that Zimbabwe can still operate and open up to the world. So they are welcome,” he said.

The media briefing also revealed the ruling party is putting in place all the necessary logistical arrangements to ensure the National People’s Conference proceeds smoothly in Manicaland next month.
