MEMBERS of the Harare Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) of ZANU-PF have been urged to demonstrate decisive leadership and prioritise the welfare of party supporters in order to strengthen party structures and broaden grassroots support.
The call was made during an Extraordinary Provincial Coordinating Committee meeting convened by the party’s Harare Province in Harare on Sunday.
The meeting was presided over by the party’s Secretary General Advocate Jacob Mudenda, who challenged PCC members to become drivers of development and innovation within their communities.
“We must come up with innovative ideas to grow our party and, in turn, for the benefit of the citizenry. We also need to make sure that we prioritise the welfare of our people in whatever we do. For instance, when we hear that there is no water in Chitungwiza, as PCC members, we need to come up with ideas on how to assist our people, that is leadership,” he said.
Advocate Mudenda also called on party leaders to uphold unity of purpose and maintain discipline while engaging closely with grassroots supporters.
“As Harare, we need to lead by example in all spheres. We need to grow our members. Unity of purpose must guide us. We must avoid tribalism and regionalism. As PCC members, you must also be disciplined, and we need to go to the grassroots so that we remain in touch with our members. We also need to serve our members with dedication and loyalty so that we leave no one and no place behind. Together we can build a vibrant party and ZANU PF inovakwa, Inonamatirwa nevene vayo.”
Meanwhile, Harare Provincial Chairperson Cde Goodwills Masimirembwa said the province supports the proposed Constitutional Amendment No. 3 Bill, which seeks, among other objectives, to reinforce constitutional governance and extend presidential term limits.
Cde Masimirembwa said ongoing development projects in Harare reflect the progressive leadership of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
“In Harare, we are witnessing a lot of developments in various sectors, including housing, infrastructure development and employment. These developments are happening because of the ZANU PF Party led by His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa. So, as the province, we are fully behind the Constitutional Amendment No 3 Bill.”
Since its gazetting, the Bill has received growing support from various stakeholders, with supporters describing it as a mechanism aimed at ensuring policy continuity, stability and sustained national development.
