THE growing ties between ZANU PF and the Apostolic Sect have been described as a critical alliance which will help propel change within communities.
This was said by ZANU politburo member, who is also Harare Metropolitan Province Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Senator Charles Tavengwa, while addressing a gathering in Harare on Saturday.
With the apostolic sect supporting the country’s vision in the health and education sectors, the ruling ZANU PF party says it will continue working with the sect on developmental projects that will uplift people’s livelihoods.
“We are happy that our relationship goes beyond politics and translates to empowerment of the people. We have witnessed the apostolic sect taking a leading role in sectors such as education and health and that is what we want because we do not want to leave anyone and any place behind,” Senator Tavengwa said.
“Working together is a noble idea because it is not just for political purposes, but for an empowered society. As a party, we are proud of how far the apostolic sect has come to defy stereotypes and show others that you can be useful in the developmental trajectory that this country has taken,” Chairperson for ZANU PF Harare Province, Cde Godwills Masimirembwa added.
The Vapotsori and Mazion for Economic Development leadership says they are prioritising developmental projects.
“As the church, we are working towards changing a long-standing narrative that the apostolic sect is not progressive. We want to empower not just our church members, but our communities as well. We will continue constructing schools and assisting in hospitals because at the end of the day, we all want an empowered community,” Vapotsori and Mazion for Economic Development’s chairperson, Madzibaba Moses Gwasarira
The Apostolic sect has been complementing government efforts in various spaces, including schools and clinic construction, with the sect working with the ruling party in other developmental projects.
