ZANU PF Mount Darwin reflects on a year of progress and cohesion

ZANU PF members in Mount Darwin have hailed 2025 as a year of significant development, attributing the progress recorded in the district to the leadership of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

The ruling party’s supporters gathered at Kanwemvura Farm on Christmas Day for celebrations hosted by ZANU PF Deputy Secretary for Transport and Welfare and Mount Darwin Senator, Dr James Makamba. The event drew hundreds of party members and leaders from across the district, as well as delegates from neighbouring Shamva.

Speaking at the gathering, ZANU PF Mount Darwin District Coordinating Committee chairperson and Deputy Minister of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training, Honourable Kudakwashe Mupamhanga, said the party had strengthened its structures and presence in the district over the past year.

He noted that despite challenges posed by drought conditions, the party had managed to distribute food aid to communities that had previously not benefited, while also undertaking cell restructuring and recruiting new members.

“2025 was a year that our party was strong in Mount Darwin, it has always been strong, of course, but we grew more. We were coming from a drought year, and we managed to distribute food aid in areas that never received it before. This strengthened our party through Cde ED Mnangagwa. We had our cell restructuring, and we were able to recruit new members,” he said.

Dr Makamba said the unity demonstrated by party members during the festive season reflected growing confidence in government programmes and policies implemented under the Second Republic. He added that the momentum achieved in 2025 should be sustained into 2026 to ensure continued development.

“We had a good time in Mt Darwin Chesa, all the residents, party leaders, traditional leaders saw it for themselves, came and celebrated life, and the programs that were led by our president came to fruition, and we have hope in the coming year we will have progress and development more than this year,” he said.

Supporters at the event described the celebrations as a reflection of party cohesion and progress, saying the gathering provided an opportunity to reflect on political achievements while celebrating Christmas together.

“This is a good celebration, we have never witnessed such in Mt. Darwin, we celebrated Christmas as a party, we discussed political issues. We are happy to be here celebrating Christmas as people of one party with on purpose under the visionary leadership of His Excellency the President Dr. E.D. Mnangagwa. We had a wonderful time, we enjoyed ourselves as children of ZANU PF,” one supporter said.

The festivities were marked by food, refreshments and entertainment, with party leadership distributing gifts to attendees from across the Mount Darwin district.
