CHILDREN of Zimbabwe Liberation Veterans Association has commended legislators for passing the Constitutional Amendment Number Three Bill to uphold the will of the people and strengthen Zimbabwe’s democratic processes.
This comes as the Youths convened their National Executive Council in Gweru, with empowerment issues also up for deliberations.
The bill continues to draw reactions from various sectors of society as the country charts a progressive democratic path.
The Children of Zimbabwe Liberation War Veterans Association Council held this Friday saw members embracing the landmark decision in parliament, which reflects the aspirations of the people.
“We are having the national executive meeting as children of Veterans of the struggle. We are saying as the bill enters its finality, we are fully behind the amendment,” National Chairperson of the Children of Zimbabwe Liberation War Veterans Association, Cde Phenious Makumbe said.
Addressing the gathering, guest speaker ZANU PF Secretary for War Veterans Affairs Comrade Douglas Mahiya urged young people to remain committed to national development and safeguarding Zimbabwe’s sovereignty through active participation in economic and social transformation programmes.
“The task that we had as war veterans was to fight the oppressors for your freedom, and President Mnangagwa’s task has been economic warfare to emancipate the black majority, and it is your task, so the ward of those who are against progress. CAB3 is a way to consolidate progress,” he said.
The association is calling on young Zimbabweans to channel their energies towards nation-building, economic empowerment and protecting the gains of independence for future generations.
