We are ready to lead in Harare says UZA candidate

Story by Bruce Chahwanda, Political Editor

THE United Zimbabwe Alliance (UZA) candidates in Sunningdale and Dzivarasekwa constituencies are confident of victory, riding on the developmental work being pursued by their party.

This month’s plebiscite has seen prospective legislators from different political parties adopting various tactics in mobilising their supporters.

United Zimbabwe Alliance National Assembly candidate for Dzivarasekwa Ms Petronellah Kanzimbe is engaging vendors and youths in the constituency to articulate her party’s manifesto.

“As a woman, my heart bleeds to see young people being overwhelmed by drugs and this is what I will carry to Parliament to come up with a comprehensive solution to the challenges facing our young people. The issue of vending stalls will also be critical to ensure most of the people have a better place to trade their wares,” she said.

UZA Sunningdale candidate Mr Jonathan Makaza believes the developmental work being pursued by his party in the constituency will give him an edge over other political players.

“I have done a lot of work ranging from donating chairs to schools, sprucing up recreational parks to ensure that our children have a better place to play. But my emphasis is on ensuring these places are respected so when I’m elected into power, I will make use of the Constituency Development Fund to improve livelihoods of people in Sunningdale,” he said.

Other political parties participating in the August 23 general election include CCC, MDC-T, Free Congress Zimbabwe, UANC, NCA and ZANU PF, among others.
