WAYNE Kabondo has won the 46th Independence Celebrations Half Marathon held at Maphisa Business Centre in Matobo.
The Mr Pace athlete finished the half marathon after 1 hour 6 minutes, ahead of his teammate, Isaac Langat, who managed 1 hour 7 minutes. Blanket Mine’s Mthokozisi Mhlanga came third, edging the veteran Tatenda Hove.
The event, an initiative to promote a drug-free youth, is running under the theme: “Run against drug and substance abuse-empowering youth for economic freedom towards vision 2030.”
The event being coordinated by ZANU PF affiliate Marathon 4ED is a precursor to the 46th independence celebrations set for Maphisa.
