Warriors coach, Micheal Nees has announced the squad which will take on Kenya and Cameroon in the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers early next month.
There are no major surprises with the 56-year-old German sticking to tried and tested players who have been in the national team in recent matches.
Washington Arubi, Donavan Bernard and rookie Marley Tavaziva will battle for the goalkeeping position.
In defence, the foreign-based quartet of Gerald Takwara, Teenage Hadebe, Brendan Galloway and Munashe Garan’anga will battle for positions with the local trio of Andrew Mbeba, Godknows Murwira and Emmanuel Jalai.
Captain Marvelous Nakamba has been overlooked in midfield after returning to full training following a long layoff through injury.
Marshall Munetsi is expected to continue leading the side, while Richard Hachiro, Andy Rinomhota, Brian Banda and Walter Musona are some of the midfielders in the Warriors squad.
Exciting young talents Tawanda Chirewa, Tawanda Maswanhise and Jordan Zemura are also included in the 23-man squad.
Inform Prince Dube has earned a recall and will be expected to be the source of goals, together with Tino Kadewere, Obriel Chirinda and Douglas Mapfumo.
Under-23 coach, Takesure Chiragwi will assist Nees, while Sharrif Mussa has bounced back as the team manager with former Warriors goalie, Pernwell Mckop coming in as goalkeeper’s coach.
The players will assemble in Kampala, Uganda on the first of September as they prepare to take on Kenya on the 6th and Cameroon on the 10th.
The two matches will be played at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Kampala.
