Zimbabwe are on the brink of qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after collecting six points in two matches to take their points tally in Group J to eight.
The Warriors are just two points behind Group leaders Cameroon and enjoy a four-point cushion over third-placed Kenya.
The last two qualifiers against Kenya and Cameroon will be played in November and Zimbabwe need just a point from the two matches to qualify for the 2025 AFCON.
A point from the match against Kenya in November will see Zimbabwe moving to nine points, which will be unassailable for the East Africans.
With the top two teams in each group qualifying for the continental showpiece, the Warriors have destiny in their own hands.
“We can only be proud of ourselves we knew it was a difficult game but we remained now that we have destiny back in our hands we need to remain grounded and focus on the next match which is going to be like a final because Kenya will come with all they have,” said Warriors vice-captain, Marshal Munetsi.
Head coach Michael Nees who is yet to lose a match, in 4 outings is impressed with his charges.
“We set an objective to have the qualification pathway in our hands and I am happy we achieved that we can determine our own way going forward but I must warn you nothing is won yet we need to do the job in our last two qualifiers,” he said.
Cameroon have already qualified for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco, and the battle is now between second-placed Zimbabwe and Kenya who are third.
Namibia who have lost all their four matches so far, are out of contention.
