Story by Raynald Ngwarati

STAR forward Khama Billiat has made a sensational return to the Warriors fold after being drafted into the senior men’s football team ahead of the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers set for next month.

Billiat’s return comes barely 24 hours after the unveiling of the US$80 000 Warriors kit sponsorship package by Better Brands.

The Yadah FC forward, who retired from international football in 2021, is set for a sensational comeback to the national team after being convinced by Warriors coach Michael Nees for another dance.

Billiat took to social media this Wednesday to announce his decision tostep out of retirement and help the national team ahead of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.

Moments after announcing that he is in for another dance, the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) rushed on to their socials to issue a statement announcing the addition of the talisman to the Warriors squad announced on Monday.

The 34-year-old Billiat has been described by legendary South African coach Pitso Mosimane as one of the best players he has ever coached.

The Warriors will be counting on his class and experience to guide them to their first victory ever over Kenya before taking on Cameroon.

Billiat is the most valuable player in the Premier Soccer League and has proved his worth on the pitch by banging 10 goals for Yadah FC this season.

He is gunning for the top goal scorer award alongside William Manondo of CAPS United and Simba Bhora’s Tymon Machope who have also found the back of the net 10 times this season.

Billiat has proved that he still has what oit takes to play at the highest level with a combination of skill and precision lighting up the domestic premiership which has raised hopes that his combination with Derby County forward Tawanda Chirewa will cause problems to any defence.
