VICTORIA Falls was the place to be this past weekend as music lovers were treated to an array of African sounds at the just ended Victoria Falls Carnival.
From the 28th to the 30th of April, the euphoria was in the air, as the 11th edition of the Victoria Falls Carnival took place in the country’s tourism capital.
This year’s event was bigger and better in terms of more performing artists, events and venues.
From the sunset cruise on the Zambezi River to the pool party hosted by South African TV Personality Boitumelo Thulo better known as Boity, the music extravaganza lived up to its billing.
Star performances from Enzo Ishall, Khoisan, Jah Prayzah, Mi Casa, Mafikizolo, Mokoomba and CKay, to mention but a few, had music lovers on their feet with some having to catch a breath or two.
For the organisers having such a crowd is nothing short of an accomplishment.
“This year’s carnival was a bit hectic as we had a lot of artists playing to try and accommodate everyone’s musical taste and feel, but we are happy on the turnout. The hosting of Transform Africa Summit was also a boost for ticket sales as most of the delegates ended up coming to the carnival,” noted Victoria Falls Carnival Director, Ryan Christian.
“This year also saw us expanding into Zambia as we held the usual event here in Zimbabwe we also launched in Zimbabwe at Radisson Blu Mosi-Oa-Tunya, Livingston Resort which was a success also.
“We had so many partners on board including the Wild Aid Fund, were we raising awareness on poaching, human wildlife conflict and conservation. As much as we party, we ought to remind ourselves on the importance of protecting our animals and environment. We are also happy that we had no accidents this year involving humans and wildlife,” added Christian.
As the Carnival ends, the country’s tourism capital will always hold dear memories for many and certainly a tourism destination of choice.
