THE United Nations (UN) General Assembly 10th Emergency Special Session to discuss the situation in Israel and Palestine has resumed.
President of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, Philemon Yang, has urged the Israeli government to fulfil its obligations under international law.
This includes allowing the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) to continue working in the occupied Palestinian territories.
During the meeting, Permanent Observer of the State of Palestine to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, called for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire.
Reports say Israeli troops launched a bomb attack on a neighbourhood in northern Gaza City and airstrikes on a camp for displaced people as well as food storage facilities in southern Gaza’s Khan Younis causing fatalities.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian death toll from the on-going Israeli onslaught in the Gaza Strip has gone beyond 44 000, with around 105 000 wounded, since the 7th of October last year.
