UAE minister pays courtesy call on President Mnangagwa in Addis Ababa

The United Arab Emirates minister of state and member of the royal family, His Highness Shaikh Shakboot Nahyan Mabarak Al Nahyan has paid a courtesy call on President Emmerson Mnangagwa in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on the sidelines of the African Union summit.

Foreign Affairs and International Trade minister, Professor Amon Murwira said the closed-door meeting saw discussions centering on trade between Zimbabwe and the UAE.

The UAE is currently Zimbabwe’s second-largest trade partner.

The meeting also saw talks extending to the invitation for President Mnangagwa to undertake a state visit to the UAE.

Minister Murwira said the dates for the visit are yet to be firmed up.

Later today President Mnangagwa is expected to attend a high-level meeting on domestic health financing, hosted by President Paul Kagame of Rwanda.

In the evening, the SADC chairperson is expected to make a presentation at the Peace and Security Council heads of state and government meeting which will be looking into the situation in Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
