HEALTH practitioners have called for accelerated innovation, stronger collaboration and continuous professional development to improve healthcare delivery amid evolving health challenges, technological advances and growing patient expectations.
The call was made at the opening of a three-day conference in Kwekwe on Friday, which has brought together healthcare professionals from across the country to explore sustainable solutions for enhancing service delivery and patient outcomes.
Stakeholders noted that increasing disease burdens and rapid technological change are placing greater demands on healthcare systems, making innovation essential to maintaining quality care.
“We are reimagining quality healthcare as technology evolves and patient expectations change. Embracing innovation is key to meeting these demands and aligning with national development goals,” President Pharmaceutical Society of Zimbabwe, Mrs Vimbainashe Mukakati said.
Government reiterated its commitment to strengthening the health sector to ensure it remains responsive to the needs of communities.
“The outcomes of this conference align with SDG 3 and NDS2’s social development agenda, focusing on universal access to healthcare and addressing regulatory challenges for sector sustainability. The Second Republic, under the astute leadership of President Dr Mnangagwa, has been championing the evolution of the health sector through the purchase of state-of-the-art equipment and the establishment of clinics. Would like to commend the First Lady Amai Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa for the sterling work through her Angel of Hope Foundation to ensure access to health,” Midlands Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Owen Ncube said.
