FORMER champions, Simba Bhora, have moved to reinforce their squad ahead of the 2026 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season, following the acquisition of several experienced players, including Malawian international defender Lawrence Chaziya.

The Shamva-based side are currently in Botswana, where they have pitched camp for a two-week pre-season training programme as preparations for the upcoming campaign gather momentum.

Simba Bhora are in rebuilding mode after losing a number of key players at the end of last season and are expected to unveil midfielder Adrian Silla and striker Claude Mapoka as part of efforts to reshape the squad.

Headlining the new arrivals is Chaziya, an experienced centre-back who previously turned out for Malawian Super League giants Mighty Wanderers, bringing much-needed leadership to the backline.

The rebuilding exercise follows a challenging 2025 season in which Simba Bhora carried a bloated squad, particularly in midfield, resulting in intense competition for places.

Several players have since departed, including midfielders Emmanuel Ziocha, Junior Makunike and Donald Mudadi.

The club has also parted ways with striker Isascar Gurirab and goalkeeper Tonderai Mateyaungwa as part of the off-season clear-out.

With a leaner squad and targeted reinforcements, Simba Bhora are aiming to strike a better balance as they set their sights on mounting a strong title challenge in the upcoming season.
