Sakunda Holdings equips Tongogara Polyclinic to the tune of US400k

Story by ZBC Reporter

SAKUNDA Holdings made donation of medical equipment worth US$400 000 to modernise Tongogara Clinic constructed by the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF).

The clinic, which was constructed as part of the peacetime mandate of the ZDF, is expected to better the lives of people in the area as it will serve thousands of villagers, especially the elderly and expectant mothers.

The clinic houses maternity wards, admission facilities for both men and women, the pediatric department, as well as the casualty and emergency sections, which suits it well for a referral status.

Sakunda Holdings donated a brand new fully equipped ambulance for the clinic, a borehole to assist as there are water shortages, a resident doctor whose salary for one year will be paid by Arundel Hospital and a mortuary on a location of the clinic is yet to decide on.

Sakunda chief operating officer Mr Mberikwazvo Chitambo also unveiled state-of-the-art medical equipment, machinery, computers, beds, and utensils among other items to ensure the smooth running of the clinic.

The unveiling of the equipment was attended by Arundel Hospital chief executive officer Mr Blessing Chitsato, Bridging the Gap Foundation chief executive officer Professor Blessing Nyahanana, Laennec Medical Supplies Managing Director Mr Joseph Mudzingwa among other health professionals

The health institution was named after the distinguished liberation war hero Cde Josiah Magama Tongogara and was the brainchild of Tongogara Rural District Council.
