SADC Ministers convene in Zim to strengthen regional trade and labour cooperation

ZIMBABWE is hosting two key Southern African Development Community (SADC) meetings this week, focusing on trade and labour issues within the region.

The 40th SADC Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Cooperation Structures meetings organised by SADC in collaboration with Zimbabwe’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce, is aimed at addressing trade barriers and enhancing regional economic integration under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

At the same time, the Ministry of Public Service, Labour, and Social Welfare is convening a meeting of SADC Ministers responsible for employment and labour, along with social partners. Discussions will centre on establishing fair labour practices and improving protections for migrant workers across the region.

These meetings seek to strengthen regional cooperation, promote knowledge sharing, and support economic development within the SADC bloc.
