RURAL schools have opened their gates, with learners and parents upbeat about a fruitful year.
Mazare Secondary School, one of the satellite schools in Masvingo province, was a hive of activity as early as 7 am this Monday, with learners and teachers ready to embark on a new journey.
Ensuring the learning environment is clean was the first step after the long festive season holiday.
Ashley Ncube, Themba Mundondo and Tadiwa Chamisa are among the Form Ones who are looking forward to a fruitful four years at Mazare Secondary School.
Ashley said, “I’m excited to be here at Mazare Secondary school, I did my primary in Bikita and I’m looking forward to a fruitful four-year period here.”
Themba said, “As a new pupil, I am a bit nervous but I am sure very soon I will find new friends and start learning.”
Tadiwa noted, “I came here with my brother and my fees have been paid now I am looking forward to starting learning.’’
Parents were also at the school premises battling to secure form one place for their children or pay school fees.
Ms Huni said, “As parents, we trust that this year is going to be a good one, we trust that our children will make it at the end of the year.”
When the clock struck 9 am, it was all systems go with teachers outlining their expectations for 2023.
