FOUR men who are believed to be part of a group that fatally assaulted a suspected thief in Harare’s Rugare suburb have appeared in court facing charges of murder.
The accused include Gift Kamupira, Sirivako Davison Kagwa, Stephen Albert Phiri and Barbara Kumadzi.
It is alleged that on the 5th of this month, Kamupira spotted the now deceased in his maize field and accused him of stealing maize cobs.
The court heard that Kamupira apprehended the now deceased and called a mob which took turns to assault him.
The court heard that the quartet and their accomplices who are still at large, later dumped the now deceased at an open space in Rugare.
Kamupira later claimed to have discovered the body of the victim and reported the matter to the police.
