THE annual Queens International Pool Tournament is growing bigger and better with the third edition having attracted two new countries on top of the seven participating countries.

The tournament returned bigger and better this time with two nations, Kenya and Tanzania participating in a tournament which continues to attract highly rated pool players.

Organiser of the tournament, Archie Scholtz revealed that this year’s tournament has seen an increase in the number of participating countries.

“This year we have attracted two more countries in Tanzania and Kenya, we now have nine countries for this tournament. Our goal is to position this as a family-friendly sport. We are now hosting the tournament in venues that welcome families, encouraging parents to bring their children and enjoy the atmosphere.,” Scholtz said.

Zimbabwean pool players failed to capitalise on home advantage with highly rated player Malvern Mukonza eliminated in the round of 16.

The final will now be an all-visitors affair as Uganda’s Ceaser Chandinga seeks to defend his gong against South Africa’s Eden Josephs.

“It is not going to be easy facing Aden. He is a good player, but I will surely give it my best to defend my crown,” Chandinga said.

Last year, Uganda’s Chandinga got the better of another South African highly rated player, Jeremiah Naidoh nicknamed Gandaganda in pool circles.
