PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa has called on all Zimbabweans to unite and pool their skills, knowledge, and resources in pursuit of national development and prosperity.
In his Christmas and New Year message, the Head of State reflected on 2025, highlighting the country’s achievements while acknowledging challenges, and encouraged citizens to build on the gains recorded.
“As we bid farewell to 2025, which was yet another eventful year, I am honoured to thank you, my fellow citizens, countrymen and women, for the numerous successes and milestones that we have achieved during the course of the year. Together in unity as one people, we continue to lay a firm foundation for greater successes in the years to come. All our achievements, across every sector of the economy, are worth celebrating, now and in the New Year,” he said.
As the new year beckons, the President says more lies ahead in 2026 towards a prosperous, inclusive, modernised and industrialised Zimbabwe, where no one and no place is left behind.
“To achieve our goals, I call upon all of us, including those in the diaspora, to harness our collective will, knowledge, skills and resources for the good of our motherland, Zimbabwe. We will have an obligation to build a society that is inclusive, just, equitable and prosperous. Under the national development strategy -2, which rolls out in the new year, Vision 2030 and the Zimbabwe we all want must become a reality. In our individual and collective capacities, let us also remain vigilant as we consolidate unity, peace and social cohesion,” he said.
In all the festivities of the season, President Mnangagwa urged Zimbabweans to be responsible on the roads, while also calling for more efforts in fighting drug and substance abuse.
“Together, let us take the necessary responsibility to guarantee safety on our roads to curb injuries, loss of lives, as well as damage to infrastructure and property. Similarly, the ongoing fight against drug and substance abuse, which is ravaging the future of our communities, must be scaled up, more so during this festive period,” he said.
The country is currently experiencing rainfall, and President Mnangagwa has urged Zimbabweans to diligently work on their land to ensure household and national food security.
