President Mnangagwa urges Cabinet unity and faster delivery as 2026 calendar begins

PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa has called for closer collaboration and stronger alignment among Cabinet ministers as Government begins implementing the 2026 Cabinet calendar, warning against inertia, fragmentation and bureaucratic delays.

Chairing the first Cabinet meeting of the year, President Mnangagwa said ministers must work towards a single national vision anchored on the successful implementation of the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2).

He cautioned that he would not tolerate “unwarranted rigidity, inflated individualities and misalignment or bureaucratic lethargy” within Cabinet or across ministries, departments and agencies.

The President reminded ministers that they remain accountable to citizens, saying a culture of delivery and results was now firmly entrenched under the Second Republic.

He further challenged Cabinet members to accelerate the implementation of programmes and projects, warning that indecision and delays would not be accepted.

President Mnangagwa also urged the media to uphold responsible journalism guided by the values of hunhu/Ubuntu, calling on journalists to place national interest at the centre of their work.
