President Mnangagwa underscores role of transparency in development

PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa has emphasised the importance of tracking socio-economic development progress and impact through sustained monitoring and evaluation.

The President was addressing delegates at the Inaugural Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Week in Harare.

The inaugal learning week opened in Harare this Monday, offering a critical pedestal for discussions on tracking progress, assessing impact, and ensuring accountability of development initiatives.

“This occasion reaffirms our unwavering commitment to the realisation of Vision 2030, that of making Zimbabwe an Upper Middle-Income Society. Our journey towards a prosperous and transformed nation hinges on progress tracking, transparency, accountability, and a result oriented mindset. By diligently tracking our progress and learning from our challenges, we cultivate a culture of continuous improvement,’’ he said.

President Mnangagwa noted the government’s commitment to an inclusive approach that benefits all tiers of society.

“Let us embrace this opportunity to deepen our commitment to learning and accountability, assured of full support from my government. Together, we will pave the way for sustainable transformation, leaving no one and no place behind. Nyika Inovakwa Nevene Vayo,” he said.

The government is strengthening monitoring and evaluation models as a vehicle to improve the efficiency of public programmes and policies.
