PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa has returned home following his participation at the 2026 World Governments Summit in Dubai, where African leaders collectively underscored the importance of unity and a shared continental voice on global and developmental issues.
The Head of State and Government was received at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport by Vice President Colonel (Retired) Kembo Mohadi, service chiefs and senior Government officials.
The high-level summit, which ran from February 3 and concluded on Thursday, brought together more than 30 world leaders and senior policymakers to deliberate on the future of governance, economic resilience and sustainable development in an increasingly complex global environment.
Discussions at the forum focused on how governments can build resilient economic systems capable of withstanding global shocks while fostering inclusive growth.
During his engagements, President Mnangagwa highlighted Zimbabwe’s development trajectory, reaffirming the country’s commitment to sovereign decision-making anchored on national interests.
The President emphasised that Zimbabwe charts its own development path, guided by what benefits its people and economy.
Speaking upon arrival, President Mnangagwa said African leaders at the summit had spoken with a united voice, stressing that the continent’s development lies in the hands of its own people.
“Well, I can say that as Africa, we had one voice. I think we spoke with one voice. And I think we all agreed that the philosophy we have in Zimbabwe nyika inovakwa nevene wayo, Africa can only be built, promoted and developed by its own people.”
While attending the summit, President Mnangagwa also met with a number of prospective investors.
