PRESIDENT Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa has expressed condolences to the family of Linda Masarira following her death on Sunday.
In a statement, President Mnangagwa described Masarira’s passing as a significant loss to her family, the women of Zimbabwe and the nation at large.
He said Masarira was a bold and outspoken figure within Zimbabwe’s political and civic landscape who consistently championed dialogue, constitutionalism and national unity.
The President noted that her contributions came at a time when the country required balanced and constructive voices capable of promoting peace and national cohesion.
President Mnangagwa also commended Masarira for what he described as her fearless defence of Zimbabwe’s sovereignty and her role in promoting progressive civic engagement.
He said through her participation in civil society, media platforms and political processes such as the Political Actors Dialogue, Masarira demonstrated that Zimbabweans from differing political backgrounds could engage respectfully while working towards the common good.
Linda Masarira died at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals on Sunday.
Mourners are gathered at her family home at 12 Ely Avenue in Greencroft, Harare.
