NINE Zimbabwe National Army officers have been promoted from major to lieutenant colonel, with military leaders urging them to serve with unwavering loyalty, patriotism and distinction.
The promotions were conferred by Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Speaking at the investiture ceremony, Brigadier General Administration Staff, Brigadier General Christopher Rangwana, said the promotions were based on merit, competence and dedication to national service.
“These officers have been promoted after special recognition of their dedication to protecting this country. It is on merit and competence, and we expect them to remain loyal and patriotic at all times,” he said.
The newly promoted officers expressed gratitude for the recognition, describing it as both an honour and a renewed call to service.
Lieutenant Colonel Sean Mnangagwa said the promotion was a significant milestone in his military career.
“I wish to extend my sincere gratitude to the Commander-in-Chief, Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa, for this recognition. I have served in the army for 16 years, and this means more to me than words can express,” he said.
Lieutenant Colonel Wilfred Makazhe described the promotion as life changing.
“It feels like I have been given a new lease of life. I am deeply grateful to His Excellency the President for this honour,” he said.
For Lieutenant Colonel Dorothy Masendeke, the promotion capped decades of dedicated service.
“I have been serving this country since 1976. I joined the liberation struggle at the age of 16, and it gives me immense pride to be recognised by the President,” she said.
The Zimbabwe National Army said the promotions followed a rigorous selection process grounded in merit and professional excellence.
