PHILANTHROPIST, Mr Jimayi Muduvuri, has launched a new charity organisation aimed at strengthening community response to emergencies, accidents and disaster situations, particularly among vulnerable groups across the country.
The newly established organisation, Nehanda Kaguvi Lobengula Givers JM Foundation 4ED, is set to complement national efforts in disaster response and humanitarian assistance.
A brainchild of renowned philanthropist and businessperson, the foundation will focus on providing timely support to communities affected by accidents, seasonal floods, fires and other emergencies, while also extending food assistance to vulnerable groups, including people living with disabilities and the elderly.
“We have formed this foundation to respond quickly when disaster strikes. Whether it is an accident, floods during the rainy season or any other emergency, we want to be there to assist our people, especially the vulnerable, the disabled and the elderly,” Mr Muduvuri said.
Mr Muduvuri said the foundation will work closely with communities and relevant stakeholders to ensure assistance reaches those most in need, adding that the initiative is anchored on the values of unity, compassion and national heritage.
“Our foundation is not coming to replace government structures, but to complement the work already being done by the State, particularly the Civil Protection Unit. We are focusing on emergency response, where time is critical. Our vision is to acquire ambulances that will give us national coverage so that we can respond quickly to accidents and disaster situations. So far, we have managed to purchase three ambulances, and we are working towards increasing that number so that no community is left without assistance when emergencies occur.”
Beyond humanitarian work, Mr Muduvuri also runs the Muduvuri Pan African Hospital in Kadoma, which primarily caters for the elderly and people living with disabilities.
He has further established clinics across all ten provinces of the country, in line with the national mantra that ‘Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo’
