Zimbabwean coach Kalisto Pasuwa has successfully completed a clean sweep of trophies in the Malawian league for the 2023 season after clinching the Airtel Top 8 Cup with Nyasa Big Bullets this Saturday.

A week after winning the Castel Cup to make it a hattrick of trophies in a single season, Pasuwa’s Nyasa Big Bullets found themselves in yet another final this Saturday with the Airtel Top 8 Cup up for grabs.

It was history on the line for Pasuwa who was chasing a season defining quadruple, which would be the first ever quadruple achieved by a Bullets coach since 1973.

With the gaffer chasing his biggest season in Malawi so far, his team’s focus was fixed on the history books as they secured a 2-1 victory over Mafco FC in the Airtel Top 8 Cup final to make it four out of four trophies for Bullets this campaign.

The result means that the former Warriors coach has broken a 51 year old quadruple jinx, winning everything in Malawi this season as he continues his sublime spell at the Malawian giants.

Pasuwa is having the time of his life in Malawi having won the league title for a record fifth time in a row, whilst also winning the FDH Cup, Castel Cup amd the latest addition to his trophy cabinet the Airtel Top 8 Cup.

It has indeed been a splendid season for the Zimbabwean coach who besides winning the four trophies also won the NBS Bank Charity Shield for a record fifth time as well as the Kamuzu Cup.

Pasuwa’s mark on the Malawian league has not gone unnoticed and recently the National Football Coaches Association of Malawi announced that it will honour Pasuwa for his achievements and the role he has played in the development of football in Malawi.

Arguably the best coach in Malawi, Pasuwa has now won five consecutive league titles, adding to the four consecutive league titles he won with Dynamos in Zimbabwe.

Having completed football in the Southern African nation, Pasuwa’s task now isto prove himself on the continental scale in CAF Champions League in which his side has found it hard to make the group stage.
