Ngezi Platinum Stars U19 remain on top in the Northern Region division one league

Story by Lawrence Trusida, Sports Editor

AMBITIOUS ZIFA Northern Region division one side, Golden Eagles have fired head coach Gilbert Mushangazhike after a slow start to the season.

The ambitious side finished third in the Northern region division one last season and had hoped to mount a charge towards promotion but they started the new season slowly.

Eagles are in sixth position with 10 points following a nil-all draw against Banket United at Ellis Robbins School.

The result left them five points behind log leaders, Ngezi Platinum Under 19, who lost their first match this weekend after going down 2-1 to Black Mambas at Morris Depot.

Mambas are a point behind Ngezi Under-19, while Harare City are in third position with 13 points to conclude the top three.

In the Southern Region, Talen Vision continues to be early pace-setters after a 1-nil victory over Indlovu Iyanyathela kept them on top of the log with 10 points from four matches.

Second-placed ZPC Hwange also have 10 points but an inferior goal difference keeps them at bay after they edged CIWU 2-1.

Ambitious side, Adachi overcame Mosi Rovers 3-2 to keep hold of third place, while perennial campaigners, Casymine conclude the top four.

Tongogara opened up a two-point gap over TelOne in the Central Region after overcoming Loss Control 2-1, while TelOne were held to a goalless draw at home by Beitbridge side, Dulibadzimu.

MSU in third beat Kwekwe United as ZPC Munyati kept pace following a 1-nil victory over CM United.
