Log leaders Ngezi Platinum Stars are still on course for their maiden Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title despite a loss of form in recent weeks.
The Platinum Miners have a seven-point cushion over second-placed Dynamos, with four matches to go before the end of the season.
Ngezi Platinum Stars remain on top of the PSL log with a healthy seven-point cushion despite losing their third match in the last five matches.
Madamburo, who are gunning for their first ever league, have benefited from a slump by the chasing pack with the likes of Dynamos, Manica Diamonds and FC Platinum failing to catch up with the log leaders.
Second-placed Dynamos followed up a one-nil defeat to Manica Diamonds with a goal less draw against relegation-haunted Black Rhinos.
On their part, Manica Diamonds proved to be one of the most inconsistent sides in the league after slumping to a two-nil defeat at the hands of new boys Sheasham.
While defending champions FC Platinum reminded many of their class with a one-nil victory away to Chicken Inn, they have also been let down by inconsistency this season.
That does not however take away Ngezi Platinum’s hard work since the beginning of the season and with four games to go, it now seems like a case of ‘when’ the title will be handed over to the Mhondoro-based side rather than ‘if’ they will lift the title.
While at the top of the log it looks more like a done deal, there is still much to play for at the other end of the table.
None of the teams from 10th placed CAPS United to basement club Cranborne Bullets are yet safe.
Cranborne Bullets picked up maximum points after a one-nil victory over Triangle, but that seems a little bit too late as they have 26 points with four games to go.
Their sister club Black Rhinos are three points better but are in deep trouble despite a five-match unbeaten run.
Triangle are sinking deeper with each passing week, while ZPC Kariba, who were thumped six-nil by Yadah conclude the bottom four with 33 points.
Yadah and Sheasham on 34 points apiece are not safe either, neither is Bulawayo Chiefs on 36 points nor Green Fuel on 38 points.
