Ngezi Platinum coach confident of turning around club’s fortunes

Story by Lawrence Trusida, Sports Editor

NGEZI Platinum Stars head coach, Takesure Chiragwi is confident of turning around the fortunes of the defending Premier Soccer League champions after a slow start to the season that has seen them win just one out of six matches.

The defending champions have had a slow start to the season after managing a solitary victory in the six matches they have played so far.

Madamburo stole the show last season after winning the league, but their title defense has not gone according to plan as they currently sit in the bottom four on the log after suffering two defeats while managing one win and three draws.

Despite the subdued start championship winning coach, Takesure Chiragwi is not a worried man.

“I am not concerned (with the slow start), I am concerned about the performance of the team because that guarantees how you play in your next match we are putting in the performances, and one day we will get the results the guys are putting in the effort and it’s only a matter of time you know football is like that but for now I am not worried we are going to get the goals soon,” he said.

The Mhondoro-based side has been goal-shy, finding the back of the net just three times, the same as Herentals, the least among all PSL teams.

The defending champions are preparing to travel to the Colliery for a date against bottom-placed Hwange this Sunday.

Matchday seven action however starts on Saturday with former champions FC Platinum taking on Bikita Minerals at Mandava stadium, ZPC Kariba battle Arenel Movers at Nyamhunga as Green Fuel welcomes struggling Herentals to the Green Fuel Arena in Chisumbanje, while Yadah takes on Chegutu Pirates at the Heart Stadium.

Sunday sees Manica Diamonds facing CAPS United at Sakubva Stadium, Highlanders, and Chicken Inn battle in a Bulawayo derby at Barbourfields Stadium Dynamos face TelOne at Rufaro Stadium while the last match of the day is set for Luveve as Bulawayo Chiefs tackle on fire Simba Bhora.
