GOVERNMENT has strengthened the newly established Reparations Department in the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works with the commissioning of more than 30 vehicles to improve service delivery across the country.

The vehicles, commissioned at the Department of Civil Protection in Harare on Monday, were purchased by Government and its development partners to enhance the department’s operational efficiency.

Minister of Local Government and Public Works, Honourable Daniel Garwe, said the fleet will improve the mobility of officers delivering services nationwide.

“We are here to commission over 30 vehicles that were bought by both Government and our development partners, and we are thankful to His Excellency the President because we are improving the mobility of our team across the country so that they continue to provide services to our people,” he said.

Honourable Garwe said Government’s focus has shifted to accelerating economic development following the enactment of Constitutional Amendment Act Number 3.

“The CAB3 is over now that the President has signed it, and focus is now on the economic deliverables and ensuring that everyone is part of the upper-middle-income society by 2030. That is what the President has now told us to work towards,” he said.

The vehicles will be deployed to provincial offices of the ministry, with priority being given to officers serving rural areas.
