Zimbabwe has passed a law that criminalises having sexual relations with children.
This comes after President Mnangagwa assented to the Criminal Laws Amendment (Protection of Children and Young Persons) Act, 2024, on Tuesday.
Parliament passed the legislation in July.
The law will protect minors from sexual exploitation and abuse.
The enactment of the law was announced by the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr. Martin Rushwaya, in an Extraordinary Government Gazette under General Notice 1441A of 2024.
