NATIONAL Hero Major General (Rtd) Richard Ruwodo will be laid to rest at the National Heroes Acre on Monday, with President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa expected to preside over the burial.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage announced the programme leading to the burial of the liberation war veteran and former senior military officer.
On Sunday, the body of Major General (Rtd) Ruwodo will be airlifted to Soft Farm in Macheke for a brief ceremony before proceeding to Farm 1, Tsonzo, Watsomba, under Chief Mutasa in Manicaland Province, where a provincial send-off ceremony will be held.
Following the Manicaland ceremony, the body will be flown back to the late national hero’s residence in Glen Lorne, Harare, where it will lie in state ahead of burial at the National Heroes Acre.
