THE Second Republic continues to score success stories in various sectors with its drive for taking justice to the people having been witnessed by the opening of the Mtawatawa Magistrates Court this Friday.
The Judicial Services Commission which has been operating a court at the Mtawatawa government complex has constructed a magistrate’s court which also has holding cells and a witness shelter.
Secretary of the Judicial Services Commission, Mr Walter Chikwana said the court is set to bring justice delivery system to the people.
“Many people faced challenges accessing justice with some experiencing delays so this new court brings justice to the people,” Mr Chikwana said.
Stakeholders have welcomed the opening of the court in the area.
“We have so many cases which used to give us challenges as ZRP but we are now happy that we have a court,” a police officer said.
“As NPA such facilities make our job easier as we try to clear our cases working with the judiciary,” the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe Secretary Mr Tafadzwa Mupariwa said.
“As traditional leaders, we work very well with the JSC as we are the leaders of the communities so this comes as a great relief as justice is now closer,” the Chairperson of Mashonaland East Provincial Chiefs Council, Chief Nechombo said.
The opening of the Mtawatawa Magistrates Court comes at a time when the JSC has established a regional court at Mtoko, deployed resident magistrates at Kotwa, Wedza and Beatrice, while a circuit court has been set up at Mahusekwa.
