Mighty Warriors Cruise past Lesotho

Story by Anashe Murombedzi

THE Mighty Warriors secured a convincing three-nil victory over Lesotho in their last group-stage match at the COSAFA Women’s Championship in South Africa this Sunday.

The Mighty Warriors made amends for the defeat to Mozambique in their first match at the COSAFA Women’s tournament.

Ethel Chinyerere broke the deadlock in the second half as the Mighty Warriors found the opener before Skipper Christabel Katona extended the advantage.

Affectionately known as Haaland, Chinyerere sealed the 3-0 victory with her second goal of the match.

Despite the win, the Mighty Warriors’ fate hangs in the balance, as they wait for the outcome of the Mozambique and Lesotho match.

With Mozambique and Zimbabwe tied on three points, a win or draw for Mozambique against Lesotho will see them advance, while a loss will see Zimbabwe go through to the semifinals
