Mid-air drama for Nigeria’s Super Eagles en route to World Cup qualifier

A plane carrying Nigeria’s football team was forced to make an emergency landing after suffering a cracked windscreen as they travelled home for a crunch World Cup qualifier.

The Super Eagles had been travelling to Uyo from Polokwane, South Africa, after earning a 2-1 victory over Lesotho on Friday.

The Nigeria Football Federation confirmed the incident has delayed the arrival of Nigeria’s players and officials to Uyo, where they are due to face Benin in a World Cup qualifier on Tuesday.
