ZANU PF leadership in Matabeleland South Province convened a Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) meeting in Gwanda this Saturday to review party activities and discuss preparations for the 2026 national independence celebrations set to be held in Maphisa.
The meeting, which was marked by song and dance, reflected a spirit of unity and renewed commitment to implementing resolutions from the recently held 22nd National People’s Conference in Mutare.
Addressing the gathering, ZANU PF Matabeleland South Provincial Chairperson, Cde Mangaliso Ndlovu, expressed gratitude to President Emmerson Mnangagwa for his continued support towards strengthening party structures.
“This is the first time in my years in the party to have Central Committee members being capacitated this much, and as Matebeleland South, we are grateful and we will continue supporting our President,” he said.
ZANU PF Politburo Member, Cde Abednico Ncube, reiterated the importance of using the newly distributed vehicles strictly for party mobilisation
“These vehicles we received are not for personal use, they are for party business, and we are grateful to our President, and we will continue rallying behind him.”
The meeting also received progress updates on the 2026 Independence Day preparations, with several infrastructural projects already underway in the host district.
“We have commenced work on critical projects for the independence, and we are going to tar the Gwanda-Maphisa road, and rehabilitate the Bulawayo-Kezi road. We have already started clearing the main arena. We are also establishing a piped water scheme in St Joseph’s Mission,” Minister of state for Matabeleland South Provincial affairs and Devolution, Honourable Albert Nguluvhe said.
The PCC also took time to thank party members who worked tirelessly to wrestle the Mangwe Council seat from the opposition in the recently held by-election.
