MASVINGO Province has begun early preparations to host the 2026 Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo, scheduled for September 2026, as the region positions itself to showcase its tourism assets and investment potential on a global platform.

The province, which is home to some of Zimbabwe’s most prominent cultural, historical and natural attractions, is expected to leverage the expo to highlight both established destinations and emerging opportunities across the tourism value chain.

Key attractions include the Great Zimbabwe World Heritage Site, a symbol of Africa’s architectural and political heritage, Gonarezhou National Park, Lake Mutirikwi, and the Tugwi-Mukosi Dam, offering a diverse mix of heritage, wildlife, leisure and adventure tourism.

Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Masvingo Province, Honourable Ezra Chadzamira, said groundwork for hosting the flagship tourism event had already commenced, with a focus on inclusive participation.

“We are pleased to have been given the mandate to host this year’s edition of the Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo. This is a significant opportunity for Masvingo Province to showcase its tourism offerings and its potential as a business hub. Preparations cannot start too early, and we want everyone to be involved, including schools, which will have an opportunity to exhibit their innovations and cultural heritage. We are determined to maximise this platform to stimulate economic growth in the province,” he said.

In line with the government’s ’s devolution agenda, the Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo continues to be decentralised, allowing provinces to take turns hosting the flagship tourism event.

Manicaland Province hosted the expo last year, a move that underscored Government’s commitment to inclusive development and the promotion of regional tourism growth across the country.
