ZANU PF’s Mashonaland West Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) has intensified preparations for the party’s Annual National People’s Conference, with leaders calling for unity and increased resource mobilisation ahead of the October event.

The PCC met in Chinhoyi on Saturday to review logistical arrangements and resource mobilisation for the conference, which Mashonaland West will host from October 12 to 17.

Provincial Chairperson Cde Mary Mliswa-Chikoka said the province is determined to deliver a successful conference and urged members to remain focused on meeting and surpassing set targets.

“Our national party leadership is now attending our meetings, and we appreciate the efforts being made by the logistics committees to ensure the conference becomes a success. We are guided by directives from the Party Headquarters and, although provincial targets have been set, we intend to exceed them because we are the host province. Let us remain focused and remember that this is a national event,” she said.

Politburo Member Cde Ziyambi Ziyambi urged members to intensify mobilisation efforts, saying the host province should exceed expectations.

“Most of the arrangements are being coordinated centrally, but as the host province we must raise the bar. I am pleased that we have already mobilised 20 tonnes of maize. That is commendable, but we should continue to go the extra mile,” he said.

On the economy, Cde Ziyambi said Government is rationalising taxes and levies to improve the ease of doing business.

“Government is rationalising levies and taxes because we do not want to overburden businesses and citizens through excessive charges. The rationalisation exercise is intended to ensure uniformity and improve the ease of doing business.

“Industries are being revived and key economic indicators continue to improve. Air Zimbabwe is also expected to resume flights to London this month, enhancing connectivity and supporting economic growth,” he said.

Mashonaland West Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Marian Chombo, said the province continues to attract major investment projects.

“Mashonaland West continues to attract significant investment, reflecting strong collaboration between Government, local authorities, the private sector and the Party. Among the major projects are a vehicle assembly plant in Mount Hampden, expected to commence production within three months, the Shuntai Cement plant in Chegutu scheduled for commissioning in September, the WeZim Cement project in Magunje, the Kariba floating solar project, as well as investments in the tiles manufacturing industry,” she said.

The meeting resolved that Mashonaland West should continue contributing to national development as Zimbabwe advances towards its Vision 2030 goal of attaining upper-middle-income economy status.
