A cholera outbreak has once again struck Mashonaland Central Province with 340 cases reported in six out of eight districts.
The recurrence of the outbreak has raised concerns about the ongoing presence of illegal miners along the Mazowe River who contaminating the water source and putting thousands of people at risk.
Health and Child Care Minister Dr Douglas Mombeshora and officials from the Ministry of Health and Child Care are at Matope Clinic in Mt Darwin where three cases are being treated at the cholera treatment centre.
The visit aims to assess the situation and implement measures to control the spread of the disease.
According to reports, 68 cases have been confirmed, with eight deaths recorded, resulting in a 2.4 case fatality rate.
