Makore strike sends Zimbabwe into COSAFA last four

Zimbabwe’s Mighty Warriors secured a place in the semi-finals of the COSAFA Women’s Championship after edging Botswana 1-0 in their final group-stage match in Polokwane, South Africa.

The victory capped a determined group-stage campaign, with the team displaying urgency and resilience to clinch the decisive result.

A solitary strike from Rutendo Makore proved the difference against a resolute Botswana side, ensuring Zimbabwe progressed to the last four.

Head coach Sithethelelwe Sibanda, affectionately known as “Kwinji 15”, expressed satisfaction with the team’s advancement and performance in the tournament so far.

The Mighty Warriors will now face hosts South Africa in Friday’s semi-final, with an afternoon kick-off scheduled in Polokwane.
