REIGNING sportsperson of the year, Tapiwanashe Makarawu headlines Team Zimbabwe for the 2025 World Athletics championships slated for Tokyo, Japan from September 13 to September 21.
Makarawu, who represented Zimbabwe at the 2024 Olympic Games, will be joined by fellow Olympian Makanakaishe Charamba in the 200m event. Tendai Zimuto and Isaac Mpofu will compete in marathons, while Chengatayi Mapaya is expected to skip past the other athletes in the triple jump competition.
In the women’s section, veteran long-distance runner, Fortunate Chidzivo, will battle for the marathon title, while the American-based duo of Vimbai Maisvoreva and Ashley Miller Kamangira compete in 400 metres and the 400m hurdles.
