Sungura music legend, Alick Macheso’s latest album, ‘Kupa Kuturika’ which was released this Friday has been received with excitement by his legion of fans.
Affectionately known as “Baba Shero,” Alick Macheso continues to prove why he is named the Sungura King.
Thousands gathered at Alex Sports Club in Harare to witness the launch of his 13th Album.
The crowd was ignited when he took to the stage and gave them a mixture of his old and latest songs.
Amongst the revellers were government officials who appreciated the role Macheso plays in uniting the nation.
“The role that Macheso plays in bringing people together is undeniable and as a ministry, we are proud of his works. We will support our artists in every way possible as they help in the preservation of our culture as well as educate the nation,” said the Deputy Minister of Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture, Honourable Emily Jesaya.
The morning after the official launch, the ZBC News took to the streets of Harare to find out if the Sungura King’s latest offering is gaining traction.
“Macheso is always on point. I haven’t listened to all the songs but so far so good,” said a fan.
Another said, “This guy is good, we are happy that finally he has given us new music.”
“He is a genius, his lyrics, the message everything is on point, we are waiting for all the songs now.”
The album features six tracks namely “Kuverengera,” “Undiregererewo”, “Zvichada Hama, Murangarire, “Kundishaya” and “Hunhu Hwakashata.”
