DEFENDING champions Scottland will be aiming to bounce back to winning form when they face Chicken Inn at Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo this Saturday, as the title race in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League intensifies.
Scottland are looking to close the gap on log leaders Hardrock and second-placed CAPS United, with maximum points crucial to keeping their title defence on track.
They head into the fixture seeking recovery after a 0–0 draw against ZPC Kariba in their previous outing, following a 1–0 away win over Agama on May 14.
Mabviravira remain firmly in the title conversation, sitting five points behind Hardrock and CAPS United, with a win set to narrow the gap and strengthen their challenge.
The encounter also carries added significance for Scottland midfielder Mthokozisi Msebe, who is set to play in his hometown against a club where he began his football journey.
“It is a big game for us. We are not far off. For me, it is a special game where I will play in front of friends and family. We are ready for the challenge, and our target is to maintain a striking distance,” he said.
On the other side, the game is an emotive one for Chicken Inn head coach Tonderai Ndiraya, who won the PSL title with Scottland last season.
Elsewhere on Saturday, Herentals play former champions Simba Bhora at Rufaro as new boys Agama host ZPC Kariba at Wadzanayi.
A mouth-watering tie is in the offing at Baobab, as unbeaten Ngezi Platinum Stars date Bulawayo Chiefs.
On Sunday, the big one is at Chahwanda, where log leaders Hardrock play Dynamos.
Manica Diamonds host Highlanders at Sakubva in another epic encounter, while Harare giants CAPS United host FC Platinum on Monday at Rufaro Stadium.
