IRAN’S new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, says his country will avenge the blood of its martyrs killed during the ongoing US-Israel attacks on Iran.
In an address carried by public media, the supreme leader called for national unity, while thanking the country’s military, which he said stopped Iran from being dominated or divided as it came under attack.
Khamenei went on to offer financial compensation for those who suffered damage and called for improved relations with neighbours in the Gulf region.
While maintaining the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, he called for all US bases in the region to be immediately closed.
Meanwhile, reports say multiple explosions have been reported across Iran’s capital, Tehran and other cities as US-Israeli attacks continue, while Iraq has shut down oil port operations after deadly attacks on two foreign oil tankers.
Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Secretary, Ali Larijani, has also responded to US President Trump’s threats to hit Iran’s electricity network, saying “the whole region will go dark,” if Washington follows through on the threats.
