A 44-year-old man from Matetsi, Khayalethu Village in Hwange District, Matabeleland North Province, has died after being struck by a train Sunday evening.
The deceased, identified as Sikhumbuzo Ncube, is believed to have been returning from a beer-drinking spree at a local tuck-shop.
According to the train crew, they found Ncube lying on the railway line and sounded the hooter, but he did not respond.
The train could not be stopped in time, resulting in him being crushed to death.
Police confirmed the incident, stating that investigations are underway.
Hwange Rural District Council Ward One Councillor, Mr Vulindlela Mhlanga, urged residents to exercise caution when approaching railway lines.
