BULAWAYO giants Highlanders kept their fourth consecutive clean sheet after playing out to a goalless draw against defending Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions Scottland at Rufaro Stadium this Monday.
The Bulawayo giants may be struggling in front of goal, but they have been saved by a solid back line.
Bosso shut out the defending champions, Scottland who have scored nine goals in their previous three matches.
This was not any ordinary attack, it had the mercurial Khama Billiat, goal poacher Terence Dzukamanja, enterprising Emmanuel Ziocha, evergreen Abubakar Moffat.
At the same time, Knowledge Musona and Tymon Machope all came in the second half and failed to unlock the Andrew Mbeba marshalled rear-guard.
The Bulawayo giants might have not been sharp enough but they are strong enough not to lose matches.
“I am happy with my boys, they played well. We had chances, but we are happy with the defensive effort. We have been solid enough and the last four matches, we have not conceded. We just need to work on our sharpness,” Highlanders coach Benjani Mwaruwari said.
Bosso were not a team just seating back, but they dominated the greater parts of the match and were just not clinical.
The defending champions also showed why they have an attack feared by most; however, they seemed to have left their shooting boots in Mabvuku.
“We cannot fault anyone for that. It was a good game of football, we had chances that we did not take and you can see Highlanders came to play,” Scottland coach Norman Mapeza noted.
Highlanders now have six points in six matches while Scottland have double that after six matches.
Elsewhere, new boys, Hardrock collected all the points on the road when they beat Triangle United 1-0, MWOS emerged 2-1 victors against Agama, while ZPC Kariba and TelOne drew nil-all.
