Govt sharpens focus on NDS2 as ministries assess 2026 100-Day projects

Story by Gay Matambo

GOVERNMENT ministries are meeting in Mutare this Thursday to validate and scrutinise proposed projects earmarked for implementation in 2026 under the 100-Day Cycle initiative.

The engagement is aimed at ensuring that all projects proposed under the rapid results framework are firmly anchored on national priorities and aligned with the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2).

Officials said the validation process will also take into account key presidential directives, including the Binga Development Initiative, as well as commitments made under the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).

The exercise is expected to align priority programmes with individual ministries’ annual strategic plans and performance contracts for accounting officers, strengthening accountability and results-based management across Government.

By interrogating and harmonising proposed interventions, the meeting seeks to ensure consistency in implementation, improved coordination among ministries and a clear focus on measurable deliverables.

The 100-Day Cycle, implemented through the Rapid Results Initiative, has in recent years delivered notable outcomes, particularly in the execution of strategic national infrastructure projects, reinforcing its role as a key tool for accelerating development under NDS2.
